 SPACE-X --  STARLINK:

Space-X StarLINK is the connectivity game changer ! …. but wait !

Let me explain what it does and what it DOES NOT !

Space-X launched (Falcon-9) up to 2000 LEO (Low Earth Orbit) satellites up to now and plan 4300
by end of 2023, and more to come.
The intent is to provide residential low latency fast internet to remote areas not covered by cable or fiber. (see residential coverage map below)

They claim 250Mb/50Mb performance but this is not the case yet .
StarLink now offer Portability subscription for RVers, but the performance is not there .

This is a Satellite system (LEO) at about 550km altitude offering low latency (30ms) which enables good video conferencing .

Starlink use Ku band to link down to the user, Ka band to link to ground stations, and the 2nd generation will use  Optical(laser) link from one satellite to another forming a Network mesh covering the planet.  They claim the final latency  will surpass the ground internet  Network!

From the INSTY Connect test (see videos) to compare Cellular LTE with Starlink we can conclude the dream is not a reality yet but  soon it  will be .

Some would install and integrate both : an LTE connection and  the Starlink system .
You can purchase the Ethernet port adaptor to connect to a 3rd party router (WAN) and you
need to be in  Router bypass mode in the setup.
You will have to switch WANs in the router setup GUI, or let the the router in  Automatic mode or in Load Sharing mode  for  more  advance routers (ie: Peplink, MOFI).

Don’t go crazy and purchase this until you know the full story. Get ready this is EXPENSIVE !

What it does:

 It will provide low latency fast internet above 150Mb/20Mb soon around the world
 Its a simple installation: 1 Antenna + 1 WiFI router + 1 power supply
 You can subscribe to Portability (RV)
 It’s a quality product

What it DOES NOT:

 Wont work well under trees , near buildings etc, it needs full clear view of the sky
 Upload speed is not great in  some  areas, full performance may be there in  your area
 Cannot use in motion  (some did below 10mph) you need the RV package
 Customer support takes forever to get a reply
 The Antenna is LARGE and needs to be installed with a real clear view of the sky
 Its EXPENSIVE !
